SVAT GX5100A Wireless Color Indoor Video System w/Receiver and Camera Overview

See and hear what is happening in another room on your TV or computer — wirelessly! The GX5100A features the latest wireless camera technology that allows you to monitor your sleeping baby, staff or nanny and provides you with peace of mind. This 2.4 GHz wireless system consists of a high-resolution colour camera with a built-in microphone and a receiver. The GigaXtreme 5100A allows you to hear even when you cannot see and allows you to view the camera images on your TV or computer and record on your VCR or DVR. The GX5100A camera can be free standing, wall or desk mountable. Unlike most colour cameras, the GX5100A has the ability to see at night. The flip of a switch will change the camera into a black/white night mode. This night mode gives you clear and vivid images even in near total darkness thus, reducing the disturbance of those you are observing. The eight infrared LEDs that make this possible are invisible to the human eye. The camera is portable with the ability to plug into any AC outlet. If no AC outlet is available, the camera can run on four AA batteries (not included). This system includes one infrared colour camera and supports up to three cameras total (a maximum of two cameras is recommended for best performance). The included receiver plugs directly into any TV, VCR, computer or DVR through supplied RCA cable and can be set to an auto-switching mode to automatically scan through all the cameras in four or eight second intervals.

Software and setup was easy and well thought out, however I’m a little disappointed in the image quality detail. I have a Linksys WVC54GCA wireless webcam (0non-pan&zoom) as well and a side by side comparison the quality/detail on the Linksys is a little better in my opinion and produces more realistic color and definition (look at the detail in the cups and dishes on the table, however to be fair the pany does have better low light sensitivity as you can see in my photo capturing the items in the background but at a cost of washing out some other things that are well lit. In this comparison picture, both camera’s are setup next to each other and a snapshot was taken at the same time. They both were configured for best quality at 1024 minimum kbps at 640×480 15frames per second. Wired and wireless for the pany yielded no difference. Viewing it from a browser or on my iPod touch you can notice the difference right away. Overall I think the trade off from low light sensitivity to image quality is acceptable, and I will be buying another pany for another part of the house, but will be using the Linksys where the details matters more and don’t need PZT. If you can’t get to this link then i’ll upload a photo to Amazon. [...]

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When we finally started, select your video surveillance to achieve your well-thought out Home Security project, you should be aware that in addition to other elements as important, the target plays a crucial role in carrying out 'device.

And 'the objective that determines the amount of light entering the camera. Besides the quality of materials and manufacturing, usually reflected in price, features have an impact on the target available verypicture.

Even if you do not want to become an expert in lenses, there are some concepts you should know before purchasing a surveillance camera.

The subjects are well known in photography, so that the principles should not be totally unknown to anyone with some practice of family photos, while also taking a very basic level.

In most cameras, the lenses are interchangeable. Therefore, you must decide whetherthe image displayed on the screen is satisfactory for your application, referring to the depth of field, angle of view and the amount of detail you want to see.

If you are not satisfied with the performance standard lens supplied, you should ask to see how a different lens would improve the pictures you want to see.

Normally, you should choose the best overall image of the end. Note that any change of opening (say) aother properties related changes (ie the depth of field).

The overall result is a matter of compromise whereby, by sacrificing some characteristic that gains a better response to another.

Fixed focal length is a common choice: even if somehow limit the size of the space in which all objects result clearly perceived (depth of field), simplifies the mechanical construction and reduces the price.

You may be familiar with autofocus feature of moderncameras. There is no capacity comparable to cameras because they have to work to. An objective lens that can be manually adjusted is called a varifocal lens, but normally should not be considered for monitoring.

Similarly, too sophisticated for the application would be a motorized zoom lens, capable of being remotely controlled to select the preferred level of detail between wide angle and telephoto.

IRIS is fixed or openingAnother point to consider simplifying the construction and operation, with some compromise on image quality. It would probably be easier to provide sufficient illumination then going for the more difficult context.

In conclusion, despite the Nice and expensive alternatives available, for a simple monitoring system at home, it would be desirable to select one of the ice easier, provided that the image quality is sufficient for its intended use.
